An amber liquid, Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis)is used in skin care products as a powerful antioxidant due to its catechin content. In clinical studies, green tea has demonstrated an ability to prevent or at least postpone the onset of illnesses such as cancer or heart disease. This is attributed to the catechin components ability to penetrate into a cell, thereby protecting the cell from free radicals and associated damage. Green Tea Extract is excellent for both skin and hair care. Because of its antioxidant properties, green tea is usually incorporated into anti-aging formulations. Additionally, it has excellent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. When applied topically, it can reduce skin swelling. When used in hair care products, green helps protect the scalp. Green Tea Extract can help rejuvenate the skin, prevent damage from the sun, and promote elasticity. In addition, it can be found in sunscreen based on its ability to extend the products SPF.
