A clear liquid, Witch Hazel Extract (Hamamelis virginiana) is traditionally used in the topical treatment of burns, sunburns, skin irritation, insect bites, and bruises. It is credited with anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. It is often used for its anti-itching, softening, and emollient properties. In addition, Witch Hazel is effective against free radicals, and it is used in solar products. It seems to counter the effects of UVA by fighting free radicals and acting as a UVA/UVB absorber. It is used in sun products and creams that try to regenerate overstrained skin. It can be formulated into gels as an antiseptic preparation for treating oily skin. 1 oz.
