Blue LED Pulse Light Therapy for Acne

This machine is equipped with LED technology and high brightness narrow spectrum blue light (wavelength of 465nm-470nm), matched with soft BIO electricity. Several ground-breaking studies conducted by several medical groups in the United States and Europe have found that narrow-band, high-intensity light in the blue wavelength range can be a safe, gentle and effective approach to treating mild to moderate inflammatory acne.

Unlike some acne treatments, blue light at specific wavelengths does not produce damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays which have been shown to cause skin damage, does not result in dryness or discomfort associated with topical acne medications and does not cause any known side effects. The advantages of Blue LED Pulse Light Acne Therapy include:
  • 100% Natural and Non-Invasive
  • Drug-free With No Adverse Side Effects
  • Safe For All Ages and Safe For Daily Use
  • Painless
  • Easily Administered
  • No Down-time
How It Works:
Specific wavelengths stimulate specific responses in the body. Blue LED wavelengths penetrate the skin and produce "singlet" oxygen which effectively destroys acne-causing bacteria. It is effective in treating acne vulgaris, showing reductions in both comedones and inflammatory acne lesions. LED therapy is quickly becoming known in the cosmetic industry as one of the most effective and non-invasive ways to help rejuvenate and take the skin back to its natural state. The results of Blue LED Pulse Light Therapy Treatments can vary by individual and skin type, are gradual, and will not just occur over night. Continued application however, will provide more cumulative long-term, lasting results. The addition of Bio Electricity, low current stimulation, helps improve circulation in the treatment area which speeds the effects.

The FDA recently approved narrow-band, high-intensity Blue Light for treating acne. Now widely advertised, it is probably the best-known light therapy for acne treatment and Blue Acne Light Therapy Facial Treatments can be performed on any area of the body. During treatment, precise wavelengths of light energy are selectively delivered through a handheld wand containing several LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) to the targeted area. Once delivered, this light energy is absorbed by the targeted bacteria that produces the inflammation associated with acne known as Propionobacterium Acnes, or "P. acnes". P. acnes releases porphyrins, which are naturally occurring molecules in the body. When porphyrins absorb certain wavelengths of light, free radical damage is produced which destroys the bacteria. Without P. acnes around to cause inflammation, acne clears up. Porphyrins have been shown to absorb light best in the blue wavelength range. This blue light output is a different wavelength than skin-damaging ultraviolet light, and has not been proven to cause treatment side effects including dryness, redness or pain.

Blue light treatment consists of three 20-minute treatments per week for two weeks. Then the treatments are cut back to two per week for 4 more weeks; Maintenance treatments are recommended every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on client’s UV exposure and lifestyle.

Note that chemical peels and microdermabrasion may be applied before or after LED Light Therapy to complement the treatments. Exfoliation and Revitalight treatment are an excellent combination and can accelerate the desired result.

  • Pregnancy — studies have not sufficiently assessed the risk to pregnant women and their babies, therefore it is not recommended;
  • Epilepsy — certain light frequencies can trigger an epileptic seizure;
  • Thyroid condition — if you suffer from a thyroid condition or are on thyroid medication;
  • If you are photo-allergic, or are taking any medication that causes light sensitivity, such as Tetracycline.
